TRI-ICE-A-THON 2012 has been cancelled
Explanation from organizers at COE:
"With regret, we are announcing that this years Ice Festival is cancelled. Reasons are many but most importantly is the lack of weather to create the walls, compounded by the Hostel Wall taking a severe hit during a recent wind storm, which took out the main post. It will need to be re-built entirely. We will be re grouping and are open to ideas on how to make the Ice Fest better all around if it is to run again next year. One of the ideas being thrown around is obtaining Corporate Sponsorship to make the festival financially viable for all of the partners involved in it in Nordegg. We wish to thank all of our sponsors for their continued support through voluteering, cash and prize donations; most importantly MEC Edmonton/Calgary, Track n Trail, Petzel, Arcterix, ROI, COE, Hostelling International Shunda Creek, Frontier Lodge, Goldeye Centre and the many generous donations from local businesses. Thank you to the ACMG guides who volunteered their time to coach and maintain safety at the walls, and run the clinics each year on Sunday. We also wish to send a big thanks to the volunteers who came out year after year to help as Team Leaders, Belayers and to keep the spirit and momentum up and the participants safe!
