About us
ABOUT
US

Frontier Lodge is a Christian outdoor adventure centre situated on the eastern slopes of the Canadian Rockies. Frontier was founded in 1959 and was first owned and operated by Youth for Christ. In the late 70's it became independent as “Frontier Camping Society” and is a registered Canadian Charity. It is a member of Christian Camping International (CCI) and an accredited member of the Alberta Camping Association (ACA). The centre strives to use the beauty and ruggedness of the mountains to encourage both young and old to know Christ or to know Him better. Frontier offers a place for people to come and be challenged in a safe environment. There is an opportunity to see God at work in the world around us; an opportunity to slow down and sort out what is really important. As a summer and winter adventure centre we offer a wide variety of outdoor programs ranging from rock climbing, mountain biking and whitewater rafting in summer to skiing and ice climbing in winter. See the activities section for a more extensive listing of year-round activities, or call us to have our staff tailor a program just for your group.

Statement of faith

Our Statment of Faith

  • We believe that the Bible is the inspired, the only infallible and authoritative Word of God.

  • We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, and in His bodily resurrection, in His Ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal visible return in power and glory.

  • We believe that for the salvation of lost and  sinful men, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers

       in Christ.

Our Core Purpose

We Value

  • Missional community where Christ is our standard and hope

  • Each individual we come in contact with

  • Experiences in the outdoors that connect us to our Creator

History
OUR
HISTORY

Frontier Lodge was founded by Alberta Youth for Christ under the direction of Reverend Lou Peskett. Lou used to take the young people of his church out on day trips into the mountains and decided to set up a permanent camp for them. Fish Lake turned out to be the ideal place. There was no access road to the camp so supplies were boated in during the summer months and a path across the lake was constructed in the winter. The year of 1959 saw the camp officially become Frontier Lodge under the auspices of Youth for Christ. Frontier Lodge was dedicated to helping youth find their way, not just in the bush but spiritually as well. It was built with the help of many Alberta churches and volunteers to cater to the needs of youth. Sixty years have gone by since then. The buildings have changed and the culture and society in which the camp was founded has changed, but the heart of the camp is still the same. The mission to use God’s wilderness to reach, teach and train youth and adults for Jesus Christ hasn’t changed. It is amazing to see how the Lord has used so many people from so many different backgrounds to accomplish His purposes here. People like Doug and Joyce Ritchie who led the camp for twenty-four years. They and many others made significant sacrifices to serve the youth and adults who have come to Frontier. Above all, we praise Jesus Christ for what He has done and is doing to change lives for eternity through this ministry.
