Frontier Lodge is a Christian wilderness adventure camp situated on the eastern slopes of the Canadian Rockies. The camp was founded in 1959 and was first owned and operated by Youth for Christ. In the late 70's it became independent as “Frontier Camping Society” and is a registered Canadian Charity. It is a member of Christian Camping International (CCI) and an accredited member of the Alberta Camping Association (ACA).
The camp strives to use the beauty and ruggedness of the mountains to encourage both young and old to know Christ or to know Him better. Frontier offers a place for people to come and be challenged in a safe environment. There is a chance to see God at work in the world around us; a chance to slow down and sort out what is really important. As a summer and winter adventure camp we offer a wide variety of outdoor programs ranging from rock climbing, mountain biking and whitewater canoeing in summer to snowshoeing, skiing and ice climbing in winter. See the programs section for a more extensive listing of year-round activities, or call us to have our staff tailor a program just for your group.
|Frontier Lodge was founded by Alberta Youth for Christ under the direction of Reverend Lou Peskett. Lou used to take the young people of his church out on day trips into the mountains and decided to set up a permanent camp for them. Fish Lake turned out to be the ideal place. There was no access road to the camp so supplies were boated in during the summer months and a path across the lake was constructed in the winter. The year of 1959 saw the camp officially become Frontier Lodge under the auspices of Youth for Christ.
