ICEFALLS RAPPEL +
ICE BUBBLE PHOTOGRAPHY

Recommended age range - 8+

Walking Distance - 1 km & 160m Elevation Gain

Price- $100/person

Beat the quarantine blues with an approachable winter adventure. Come with us for a scenic hike in the mountains to the top of a cliff with a view of a frozen waterfall, from there our technically trained staff will set up a rappel, and take you down to the ice so you can experience the icefalls from the best vantage points. Then make your way back to the trail head, and have an awesome hot lunch in the mountains provided by our staff. After lunch, make your way down to some of Lake Abraham’s most scenic locations to view the lake’s famous methane ice bubbles.

DEEP WINTER CANYON TRAVERSE + ICE BUBBLE PHOTOGRAPHY

Recommended age range - 6+

Walking Distance - 1.3 km & 50m Elevation Gain

Price- $100/person

Enjoy a beautiful hike along the peaceful cline river, while taking in spectacular winter views of Mount Elliot and Mount Sentinel. After a 30 to 60 minute hike you will arrive at the tyrolean traverse site where technically trained Frontier staff have set things up. After being clipped into a harness, use a dual rope system to traverse over the 100ft deep canyon. Spend some time experiencing this unique activity, then make your way back to the trailhead for a hot, homemade lunch. After lunch take a walk down to the famous methane ice bubbles found on Abraham Lake.

INTRO TO HIKING - FROZEN CREEK ADVENTURE

Recommended age range- 11+

Walking Distance -  5 km & 400m Elevation Gain

Price- $100/person

Are you looking for a fun adventure with hiking, climbing, and caving? Then our staff would love to take you. The day starts with an hour and a half hike in the trees, following a creek at points. Once you reach the mouth of the cave, climb 5 meters and then you are in the Shidoobee cave. Once in the cave, staff will lead the way pointing out cool things in the cave. Then make your way out the same way you came in, rappel down and make your way back to the vehicle. We will provide you with all the equipment needed and a lunch.

INTRO TO ICE CLIMBING

Recommended age range - 11+

Want to get an introduction to ice climbing? Come spend a weekend learning at our on-site ice tower. We will set you up with all the gear you need, and help you learn the basics. Once the day is over enjoy a hot meal and get rested in our cozy cabins. Get up the next morning and head back to the ice tower for more climbing mileage and instruction. Our wilderness location is the perfect place to enjoy nature, and learn a new sport.

Cancellation Policy

If cancelling 30 days or more before the start of your booking you will receive a full refund. If cancelling your booking less than 30 days before the start of your booking you will receive a refund to an amount determined by our discretion. In the event that Frontier Lodge cancels an event, your full payment will be refunded. 

 

When booking less than 30 days in advance you have 24 hours from when you make your booking to change or cancel with no charge to you. After 24 hours you will receive $100 or 50% of the total amount paid, whichever is less. Cancellations must be followed-up with written communication by email to office@frontierlodge.ca

ADVENTURE BOOKINGS

We are primarily an adventure center and prioritize adventure bookings. We would love to share an adventure with you or introduce you to what adventures we have to offer. 

SAFETY 

Keeping our campers, guests and staff safe is a priority at Frontier Lodge. We have been an accredited member of the Alberta Camping Association (ACA) for the last 20 years, and our staff are trained to meet or exceed ACA's high safety standards. All staff are required to have standard first aid and CPR training, and some have advanced wilderness first aid certification as well.
